Bright Green Shoots

common farm flowers

The National Gardening Show, which takes place from the 2nd-4th September at Shepton Mallet in Somerset, will be showcasing entrepreneurs who are making their name in the horticulture world with their gardening skills and creative flair. Be inspired by Mark Diacono and his Climate Change Garden at Otter Farm,  Armando Raish of Treebox and his Green Walls, and Fabrizio Boccha and Georgie Newbury’s Common Farm Flowers that grows wildflowers to cut and sell as bouquets.

Another beautiful common farm flower

Veg Patch by Mark Diacono

At last week’s Garden Media Guild Awards The Practical Gardening Book of the Year was deservedly won by Veg Patch by Mark Diacono (£14.99 Bloomsbury).  Part of the River Cottage series, it is well-written and beautifully photographed by the ludicrously talented Mr Diacono.  It is also eminently practical and compact – a prefect reference book to keep in the greenhouse.
