    Stauntonia throttling its companions

Gardens grow – which is all well and good – in fact really rather nice, but before you know it everything has got a bit out of hand and it is time for a rethink.  This is certainly true in parts of our garden and this winter and next spring will see a fair bit of cutting back and replanting.  The border against the wall is being taken over by Stauntonia hexaphylla which coils round all its companions and has long ceased being an asset and turned into a thug. It will have to go.   The other wall plants have become top heavy and are shading the border so they need cutting back and the border itself needs all the herbaceous plants dug out, divided and replanted.  So, plenty to do there then.
