Cape Gazania

Ever admired the patterning on a gazania flower?  It is very striking, but it’s also functional.  The central brown patterning with white dots at the base of each petal mimics the appearance of a female monkey beetle.  Amorous males land on the petals, find no female, but depart with a coating of pollen.
