The Japanese anemone is at its peak in September and October when its white or pink flowers hover above the border, swaying gently in the wind.  It looks particularly lovely planted amongst grasses.  It will take a good three years to get established in the garden as it dislikes being transplanted, but once it has settled in it will thrive – and spread.
