An Abridged Shakespeare at Hampton Court
10th July 2010 • Garden Shows and Events • Stephanie Donaldson
Gardens inspired by Shakespeare’s Comedies were sponsored by the RHS. The ‘As You Like It’ garden had very appealing willow sheep, a hawthorn tree hung with fragments of poetry and a rather inviting oak stump shelter. I loved the planting in the ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ garden – the inclusion of Salvia Hotlips with its red and white flowers may have bothered the judges (definitely not Elizabethan) but I thought it worked well among the other more traditional flowers.
