We went on one of our favourite walks at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve last weekend. In a month’s time it will be vibrant with wildflowers including centranthus, yellow horned poppy, Viper’s Bugloss and seakale, but right now it is the birds that are the attraction.  We went into one of the hides and were delighted to see a Redshank pottering along the shoreline just in front of us.  Checking their website so that I could include the weblink I discovered that they are asking for local volunteers to grow Marsh Mallow plants for the reserve.  I’ve signed up and hope to get the seed soon.
