Someone quoted Cicero on our Facebook page saying :
‘If you have a library and a garden you have everything’.
It must be obvious by now that I have a garden, but I’m also fortunate enough to have the space for a library of gardening books that I have put together over the years and which takes up an entire wall of the sitting room (except for one small section for my grandson’s books). So if you have been wondering how come I’m such a know-it-all, it’s because I only have to cross the room from my desk to consult the experts. Yes, I know there’s the worldwide web, but sometimes it’s so much nicer to hold a book in your hand and feel a connection with the person who wrote it.

Despite the presence and usefulness of the internet, there will always be a place and use for books!
I dont have the space to have a library as such but the number of gardening books I have does seem to grow constantly!
What could be better than a cup of tea and a new garden book on a cold Winter day. No ereaders for me, I want the real thing.
Too right Geri.
I love books in general, but old gardening books are my favourite thing. There used to be a bookshop in Brough, Cumbria, that only sold horticultural, natural history or botanical books. My friend and I would spend an afternoon in there and come out with armfuls of old books, from the £5 or less shelves.
I agree Gerri
