All Tucked Up

I never seem to get beyond the sweeping up the leaves stage at the moment, although even this was abandoned yesterday afternoon when a few hours of fine weather meant that I could finish planting the tulips.  Having spent a small fortune on them, it is good to know that they are all where they should be – in the soil, rather than hanging around in paper bags and threatening to go mouldy.

I Couldn’t do Without: Late November 2009

In the Greenhouse in Late November 2009

In the greenhouse: November 19th – The green manure I sowed in the border is greening up nicely and should improve the texture and fertility of the soil. The sweetpeas have put on sufficient growth for me to pinch them out after the second set of leaves.  This will encourage strong root development.

In The Garden today

In the Garden: it was all looking very lovely with bright-coloured perennials and dahlias interspersed with flowering grasses until last night when a precursor of the equinoctial gales ripped through, shredding leaves and toppling tall plants. Tidy up is on the cards for this weekend.
