Timely advice for November 2009

The combination of falling leaves and wet paths can make the garden hazardous.  Keep the paths clear and bag up or stack the leaves for future leafmould.

Plant paperwhite narcissi for Christmas flowering.

Close the greenhouse at night and ventilate during the day.

Remove branches and stems broken by gales, leaving a clean cut

In The Garden today

In the Garden: it was all looking very lovely with bright-coloured perennials and dahlias interspersed with flowering grasses until last night when a precursor of the equinoctial gales ripped through, shredding leaves and toppling tall plants. Tidy up is on the cards for this weekend.
