Rosa banksia lutea picked on New Year's Day

In recent winters it has been normal to find quite a few flowers in bloom on New Year’s Day, but this year even the hellebores have barely got their buds above ground level, so I was astonished to see this little cluster of Rosa banksia flowers high up on the wall. Late spring  and early summer is when it normally flowers so its clock is well and truly out of sync.

  1. I’m used to my hellebores being up and in bloom by now as well, but I suppose the December snow has put pay to that as their leaves are still unfurling.

    Beautiful Rosa!
