One of the most ingenious new ideas at the Press Day was a company marketing a product for new gardeners, called Garden on A Roll.  Ideally suited to new developments where a garden consists of a rectangle of turf surrounded by fencing, the idea is to make planting as simple as possible.  The gardener chooses the style of planting they like, prepares the soil and is then sent the plants together with a roll of paper marked with the planting positions. The paper is laid on the prepared border, holes are cut and the plants are planted. It couldn’t be more straightforward.  Garden on a Roll are also offering bee and butterfly borders for schools. www.gardenonaroll.com
