The allotment in June

Is now pretty full; its just the main planting of  brassicas to go now and that will be done on our return.

So far sow good

Andrew has planted out the most recent gutter of peas,  put in the maincrop potatoes and sown beetroot and carrots.

The Great Potato Plot

Traditionally Good Friday is the day for planting early potatoes, but it was a miserable day so Andrew planted them on Easter Monday.  He has also started to put together a fruit cage (recycled from various sources around the soft fruit)

Wanton Vandalism

Andrew has now prepared all the beds and was feeling pleased with progress until he got a phone call two days ago telling him, in his capacity as chairman, that vandals had broken in overnight and caused quite a lot of damage.  This sort of mindless destruction is so depressing.

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

Andrew has tidied up the soft fruit beds and mulched them with well-rotted manure and  dug one bed after spreading more manure on it in readiness for the potatoes.
